The Story of Smith

Despite the distance, Smith feels at home at our children’s hospital

Smith is a young boy visiting us from Anorí, a municipality located in the northeast region of the Antioquia department. He is known for his curious gaze; he is highly intelligent, observant, and loves putting puzzles together. He is currently receiving treatment at our San Vicente Fundación Children’s Hospital, after being transferred from his hometown due to swelling in his right leg that prevented him from walking.

Viviana, his mother, shares that she arrived at the hospital feeling very anxious about the transfer. However, the doctors’ dedication and the care they have shown Smith have given her some peace of mind, as she knows her son is receiving the best possible care.

“Even though we are very far from home, we feel as if we were there because all the staff has been so warm to us since we arrived, and they have accompanied us with love throughout this process.”
